AIIDA led a human-centred design discovery phase — mapping actual citizen journeys and pain points through usability research — before any re-platforming decision was made, ensuring the technical modernisation was grounded in genuine user needs rather than a purely technical lift-and-shift.Technical Execution
The legacy monolith was progressively decomposed into a modern, API-first architecture using a strangler-fig migration pattern, allowing new services to be built and released independently without a disruptive big-bang cutover. A cloud-native front-end was rebuilt using a component-based design system to ensure consistent, accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA-aligned), mobile-responsive experiences across all service categories, integrated via secure APIs to existing back-office systems. Modernising the technology and modernising the citizen experience had to happen together — a technically elegant re-platform would have delivered little value without the human-centred redesign of the underlying service journeys.
